The Battle for Europe

"Since the beginning of the season our main priority has been making sure we qualify for a European spot. After the sort of season we had last year that would be a major achievement. Now that man United are out of Europe, there will be two places in the Champions League, but we are well placed to make a challenge. But whatever happens, it has been a great season."

Going Out of the Cup

"We did more than enough to beat West Ham in normal time, so to go out on penalties was a big disappoinment - especially as I missed the decisive kick. But I suppose I'm glad that it was me that missed and not one of the younger lads who may have struggled to come to terms with it. If we are ever involved in a shoot-out again, I'd have no hesitation in volunteering to take one."

Sutton and Gallacher

"It has been great having the pair of them fit this season as last year we really struggled to score goals when they were out injured. They are a terrific partnership who compliment each other well. Kevin will surely play a vital part for Scotland in France this summer, but Chris has also proved with his perfomance this season that he is good enough for England."

The Current Side

"The present squad, interms of ability, is probably even better than the one that won the Championship. The manager, Roy Hodgson, has added some useful players to the squad like Stephane Henchoz and the Scandinavian lads, and we have promising youngsters like Damian Duff and Marlon Broomes breaking through. The main difference between the current side and the Championship team is consistency."

Conceiding Goals

"We have been conceding a lot of goals recently but I just think it is one of those things that happens in football - we are certainly not defending any differently to how we were earlier in this season when we kept a lot of clean sheets. There has been some crazy games this season, when a team has ahd five attempts on goal and ended up scoring from four of them."

The Future

"Hopefully I've still got a few more good years in playing in the Premiership. When I first came to Blackburn, Kevin Moran was 37 and still playing in the top flight and it would be nice to do the same. I've looked after myself over the past six or seven years and still feel as fit as I did five years ago. I just hope that I can avoid injury and carry on playing in the game as long as possible."
